On October 3, 2024, the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam hosted a vibrant and open exchange with the Korean Association of International Studies (KAIS). The event was co-chaired by Dr. Vu Le Thai Hoang, Director-General of the Institute for Foreign Policy and Strategic Studies, and Professor Ma Sangyoon, President of KAIS.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Vu Le Thai Hoang underscored the interconnected challenges reshaping the global landscape. He highlighted pressing issues, such as job displacement driven by artificial intelligence (AI), demographic shifts, and other non-traditional security threats. These challenges are not only occurring simultaneously but also have the potential to evolve and intertwine, risking escalation into multiple converging crises.
Echoing Dr. Hoang's insights, Professor Ma Sangyoon emphasized that cooperation is essential for addressing emerging global issues. He reiterated that KAIS aims to enhance collaboration between Vietnamese and Korean scholars to deepen understanding, strengthen and promote cooperation between Viet Nam, China, Japan, and Korea.

During the session, scholars engaged in discussions on crucial aspects of multilateral cooperation, exploring opportunities for building trust and advancing partnerships particularly in research, education, and training. They also considered how existing multilateral mechanisms could be leveraged to jointly pursue regional peace, security, and prosperity.

The event provided a dynamic platform that encouraged scholars to share ideas and propose initiatives for future collaboration. The Korean delegation expressed their appreciation for the insights shared at the discussion and believed the meeting would open up opportunities for further academic exchanges with the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam.
